Stigma pada Suspek COVID-19: Penyebab dan Solusinya
Abstract
Berdasarkan sejarah, penyakit menular seperti wabah, demam kuning, influenza dan sejenisnya kerap menimbulkan stigma. Stigma bukan hanya terbentuk oleh karakteristik penyakit, tetapi juga oleh proses sosial dan kelembagaan yang menciptakan kondisi munculnya diskriminasi, permusuhan dan disharmoni sosial. Artikel ini membahas proses perilaku dan sosial-politik yang mempengaruhi produksi stigma pada kasus COVID-19 dan dampaknya pada kesehatan masyarakat. Kasus diambil dari beragam kasus yang terjadi di beberapa wilayah dunia termasuk Indonesia. Ada tiga tema utama yang coba dieksplorasi - stigma sebagai penghalang aktif dalam respons pandemi, stigma dan marginalisasi dan stigma sebagai alat politik. Menggambar dari pengamatan tersebut, makalah ini menyajikan model konseptual tentang implikasi stigma penyintas COVID-19 dan membuktikan bahwa stigma adalah hambatan utama terhadap pencegahan dan pengendalian penyakit menular.
